Savory Manor · Auckland

Welcome to Savory Manor

Savory Manor is a private dining and poker club in Auckland where culinary excellence meets the quiet intensity of the card room.

Located at Viaduct Harbour, the manor blends a premium restaurant with an exclusive offline poker lounge. Every evening is designed for those who appreciate refined food and the social ritual of physical card play.

The Founding Story

A Vision Born of Two Passions

Savory Manor was founded by a group of Auckland restaurateurs and poker enthusiasts who wanted a space where culinary artistry and the social game of poker could thrive together. The founders believed that a great meal and a well-played hand share the same values: patience, craft, and presence.

They sought a location that felt like a private residence, not a commercial venue. The name “Savory Manor” reflects the dual nature of the establishment: “savory” for the kitchen’s focus on rich, umami-driven dishes, and “manor” for the stately, welcoming atmosphere.

The manor is housed in a converted warehouse at Viaduct Harbour, chosen for its high ceilings and industrial bones. The interior was designed to feel like a private club, with intimate nooks and a grand central dining room.

Design Philosophy

Midnight Coastal Manor

The interior is conceived as a “Midnight Coastal Manor”: a low-lit private club where volcanic stone, dark timber, brushed metal, and sea-green glass meet warm amber pools of light. The palette draws from New Zealand’s coastal landscape at night, with deep blues, charcoals, and sea greens. Amber lighting is used sparingly to create intimate, focused areas.

Materials & Texture

Materials and Texture

Surfaces are chosen for tactile weight: volcanic stone floors, dark timber paneling, brushed metal accents, and sea-green glass partitions. Stone and timber provide a sense of permanence and warmth. Metal and glass add a subtle, modern edge without detracting from the club-like atmosphere.

Lighting

Lighting as Atmosphere

Lighting is the soul of the manor. Warm amber pools highlight dining tables and poker felt, while cooler, dimmer zones encourage quiet conversation. No harsh overhead lighting; instead, a mix of pendants, sconces, and table lamps. The poker room uses slightly cooler light to enhance focus, while the dining room leans warmer.

The Dining Room

An Intimate Grandeur

The dining room seats up to 60 guests in an arrangement that balances intimacy with a sense of occasion. Tables are spaced generously, and banquettes line the walls. High ceilings with exposed timber beams create an airy yet cozy feel. Custom-made tables from dark oak are paired with upholstered chairs in deep sea-green leather.

Details That Matter

From the hand-blown glass pendant lights to the volcanic stone fireplace, every element is chosen to enhance the dining experience without distraction. The fireplace provides a warm focal point during cooler months. Table settings feature custom ceramicware in muted earth tones.

The Poker Lounge

A Room for Focus

The poker lounge is a dedicated space designed for concentration and camaraderie. It features professional-grade poker tables, comfortable seating, and subdued lighting. The room is acoustically treated to minimize noise from the dining area. Tables are custom-built with speed cloth and padded rails for long sessions.

The Card Room Ethos

Savory Manor’s card room is a place for social play, not high-stakes gambling. Members and guests enjoy friendly games in a refined setting. Regular poker nights are hosted, but no monetary values are associated with play. The club emphasizes etiquette, sportsmanship, and the joy of the game.

Offline poker only — no online gambling, betting, deposits, withdrawals, or cash winnings.

Private Dining & Events

Spaces for Every Occasion

Savory Manor offers private dining rooms and semi-private areas for intimate dinners, corporate events, and special celebrations. The private dining room seats up to 12 guests and features its own fireplace and wine wall. The poker lounge can be reserved for private poker nights with friends or colleagues.
